KC Chiefs deal WR Skyy Moore to SF 49ers days before roster deadline
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs are freeing up space in their crowded wide receiver room with a reported trade to the San Francisco 49ers.
According to NFL Senior Insider Adam Schefter, WR Skyy Moore is being dealt to the 49ers, a team that's seen its fair share of injuries at the position before the regular season begins.
The full details of the trade are reported as follows:
49ers receive:
- 2027 seventh-round draft pick
- $1.5 million in 2025
- 2026 unrestricted free agent
- WR Skyy Moore
Chiefs receive:
- 2027 sixth-round pick
Moore, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs, was taken in the second round (54) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He will now enter his fourth NFL season in San Francisco.
During his three seasons with the Chiefs, Moore played in 36 total games, racking up 494 yards with one touchdown reception. Perhaps the most notable play of his career is the touchdown reception in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LVII, a game the Chiefs would go on to win, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35.
With the 53-man roster deadline under a week away on Aug. 26, it appears that the Chiefs are making room for wideouts like rookie Jalen Royals or Nikko Remigio. However, many speculated that Moore would not remain on the team through that deadline.
Moore departs a WR room currently consisting of Rashee Rice, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Royals, Remigio, Jason Brownlee and others.
The Chiefs will now compete in their third and final preseason game without Moore. They'll play the Chicago Bears on Friday, Aug. 20 at 7:20 p.m.
