New outdoor performance space coming to Heymann Park in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A new outdoor entertainment venue is coming to Lafayette, according to KLFY+ partner Developing Lafayette.
A new amphitheater is in the works for Heymann Park, replacing one of the park’s existing baseball fields with a modern outdoor performance space.
The park, owned by Lafayette Consolidated Government, is located along the Vermilion River across from Vermilionville and adjacent to Paul Breaux Middle School.
The project includes the amphitheater as its centerpiece, along with restrooms, a vendor pavilion, dedicated vendor and performer parking, and a new public parking lot. Drainage upgrades, utilities and landscaping are also part of the plan, according to Developing Lafayette.
City officials say additional improvements are being considered for Heymann Park, including upgrades to existing facilities and better community access. Those will depend on available funding.
Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 with completion projected for late 2026, pending final approval of state funding in the Capital Outlay process.
