Sofía Vergara's Emmys No-Show Came With a Painful Beauty Setback

When Emmys night rolls around, fans expect to see Sofía Vergara on the red carpet. After being announced as a presenter, she was a no-show at the Sept. 14 event. So, where was she on Sunday night?

Well, the America’s Got Talent judge didn’t exactly have the best night; she spent it in the emergency room dealing with an eye issue. She updated her Instagram followers with a snapshot of a painful eye infection. “Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER ????????sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye allergy right before getting in the car!????????,” she wrote in the caption.

Her hair was already styled in soft waves that framed her professionally made-up face — it was evident that she was halfway through her Emmys preparations when the allergic reaction hit. Vergara also shared video clips of her lying in a hospital bed in her casual clothes and doing an eye wash with water in a hospital sink to stop the pain.

Vergara usually delivers a big fashion moment at the Emmys, so fans missed out on one of her epic looks. Last year, the Modern Family star turned heads with a Jessica Rabbit-inspired red gown by Dolce & Gabbana at the 2024 Emmys. Her gorgeous curves and old-Hollywood glamour waves gave off the sexiest red-carpet vibes — she knows how to dress for her figure.

“People will often say that I wear the same thing on the red carpet, but I know my body: it’s very voluptuous and I’ve got the boobs of a stripper,” she revealed to Net-a-Porter in 2016 while pointing out her triple D breasts. “I need my dresses to have structure – and under armor.”

She hasn’t teased fans with what she would have worn in 2025, but there are still plenty of award shows ahead — and we can’t wait to see her red-carpet style!

The 53-year-old actress wasn’t the only star to miss the Emmys; Eric Dane was expected to be at the ceremony to honor Grey’s Anatomy‘s 20th anniversary. He did not appear with the rest of the cast, but his absence comes on the heels of his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis, which he revealed in June.
