Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh won the toss and elect to bowl against Sri Lanka in Super 4 clash
Bangladesh skipper Litton Das won the toss and elected to bowl in the Asia Cup Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, here on Saturday.
Bangladesh made two changes in the Playing XI from the previous game, bringing in Shoriful Islam and Mahedi Hasan in place of Rishad Hossain and Quazi Nurul Hasan, while Sri Lanka have decided to field an unchanged side.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Dunith Wellalage, who rejoined his side on Saturday after having returned home following the death of his father on Thursday, figured in the XI.
“We’ll bowl first. When I saw the first leg, all the matches were won by the teams batting second easily. And, I am a bit confused about the pitch, that’s why we chose to bowl. When you qualify, you have an opportunity to play all the three game. We are very excited to play the game. All the members of the team are doing a great job, so I am very happy. Two changes. Sohan and Rishad not playing. Shoriful and Shak (Mahedi Hasan),” Litton Das said after the toss.
“I would have done the same thing but the pitch is on the dry side. It’s a used pitch, doesn’t matter if we bat. Lot of young players have come into the side since 2021 they and are now maturing. We are going with the same XI,” Charith Asalanka said after the toss.
Teams:
Sri Lanka: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Kamil Mishara, Kusal Perera, Charith Asalanka (c), Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara.
Bangladesh: Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, Litton Das (c, wk), Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.
