Livvy Dunne was a nervous wreck watching her boyfriend, Paul Skene, make his final start with the Pittsburgh Pirates as the 2025 regular season comes to a close.
The LSU gymnastics legend was seen in a luxury suite making nervous gestures -- like clutching her fist and clenching her jaw -- while recording her man on the mound.
It was the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Pirates were clinging to a 1-0 lead against the Cincinnati Reds, who desperately needed a win to keep their wild-card playoff hopes alive.

With a runner at third, two outs, and an 0-2 count, Skenes threw a 98 miles per hour laser that landed just above the strike zone. It didn't matter, because Reds centerfielder TJ Friedl couldn't check his swing, giving Skenes the strikeout while the Reds stranded the tying run at third base.
Dunne and Skenes had plenty to celebrate that night. He would go on to pitch six scoreless innings while racking up seven strikeouts. He issued no walks and allowed only four hits, as the Pirates went on to beat the Reds, 4-3, in 11 innings.

Skenes finishes the season with 17 wins and a staggering 1.97 ERA. He also finishes the season with 216 strikeouts and, by all accounts, will be this year's Cy Young winner.
And, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, Skenes becomes the first qualified pitcher in his age-23 season or younger to post a sub-2.00 ERA since Dwight Gooden (1.53 ERA) accomplished the feat in 1985.
Skenes was born in 2002. Hell of a season!
