Man dies after falling from docked boat on Grand Island

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A man drowned late Friday night after falling from a docked boat at the Sandy Beach Yacht Club on Grand Island, the Grand Island Fire Company said.

First responders arrived on the scene around 12:30 a.m., and the victim's body was recovered approximately one hour later between Grass Island and Buckhorn Island State Park, deputy chief John Podlucky said.

Several agencies assisted in the search, and the Erie County Sheriff's Office is leading an investigation.
