Austrian Post opens Austria’s largest self-service branch
Österreichische Post AG has opened the first self-service branch (self-service branch) in Graz at Idlhofgasse 37. With its more than 1,300 pick-up lockers, it is also the largest 24/7 self-service branch in Austria.
This will give around 10,000 households in the Gries district the opportunity to pick up or send their parcels around the clock. The location has also been equipped with a flexible counter, which can be manned by an employee during the high season at Christmas time. This also makes it possible to pick up bulky goods parcels that would not find space in a post office.
The new 24/7 self-service branch has now been officially opened by Elke Kahr, Mayor of the City of Graz, and Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG.
Elke Kahr, Mayor of the City of Graz: “The self-service branch is a good addition to the services offered by Austrian Post, especially for those who work themselves during the usual opening hours. And with the flexible counter for bulky goods, the employees in the other branches, where there is often a large rush, are relieved during the Christmas season.”
Peter Umundum, Deputy CEO, Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG: “As a native of Styria, I am particularly pleased that we are opening Austria’s largest self-service branch in Graz. With over 1,300 pick-up lockers and a flexible counter for bulky goods at Christmas time, we are setting new standards in terms of convenience. The first 24/7 self-service branch in the Styrian capital shows what modern postal services look like today, namely efficient, sustainable and available around the clock.”
THE NEW SELF-SERVICE BRANCH IN GRAZ
The new self-service branch covers an area of over 210 m² and offers space for a large post office with more than 1,300 pick-up lockers. Two shipping stations also enable franking and sending parcels or returns. The new self-service branch has a bright and modern design, and the sustainable furnishings also include wooden cladding elements that contribute to a pleasant atmosphere.
At Christmas time, a flexible counter for the collection of bulky goods can be staffed. This relieves the surrounding post office locations and increases comfort for all residents of the district.
