Krazy Klowny film crews take over Amsterdam
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- You might remember back in 2016 when creepy clowns were popping up all across the country and terrorizing people. The police in Amsterdam said kids were chased through city streets by a clown on four separate occasions. Now there has been another clown that has been spotted roaming the city.
But don't worry. This clown is not that clown. He's actually here to film a movie. “It's Krazy Klowny time kids!” said the actor playing Krazy Klowny.
Fitting for the first day of October, a spooky movie trilogy filmed right here in our area by local director Jeff Knite. Knite says he is bringing back a fan favorite this time, “We killed him in the first movie, but now we're bringing him back. You guys got the exclusive look of what he looks like when he comes back. He's where it all started. It was the Covid Killer, then the Copycat Killer, and then Krazy Klowny.”
Knite said the third movie in the trilogy is about a man who falls in love with being a professional clown but then becomes saddened by his work. “Then one day he gets fired and his brother dies. Who's a police detective. And he snaps, and he becomes a serial killer,” explained Knite.
He said there is a new face to the trilogy, Scarlett, Krazy Klowny’s love interest, “The second movie is about me. It's about Scarlett,” said actress Jessa Fayer.
This latest installment also features a little star power, Nicholas Cage’s son Wescott Coppola Cage. Knite said they have filmed in many locations throughout the area, “Riverlink park, we shot in Shuttleworth Park. We shot in Colonial Square Apartments. We shot at the Super 8,” the director also said they filmed in Schenectady and plan on filming in Fulton County next.
Another recognizable face, Jennifer Babtist who starred as Wanda in The Toxic Avenger plays a menacing grandmother, Arabella, in the film. She said the area is perfect for the film industry and can’t wait to see it grow, “They have a vision to make this a film center, which I'm so excited for them to, to help them along with that and, you know, get some incentives from the state and bring people here to Amsterdam. I mean, this is amazing.”
Deb Goedeke, the Albany Film Commissioner said filming here in the Capital Region is always an economic boom, “If we keep our film incentive strong here in the United States, it will continue to feed our communities and create jobs. I think that's what we need to look at. There's a federal tax incentive right now that it's up for renewal in 2025.”
Knite said Krazy Klowny is expected to hit the big screen for Halloween 2026.
