Underrated Patriots Defender Earns Major Award After Big Game Vs. Titans

The New England Patriots cruised to their fourth straight victory in Week 7, as they handed the Tennessee Titans a 31-13 defeat. One of the stars of the game was linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson, who continues to stand out alongside Harold Landry III in the team’s front seven.

Chaisson has been a revelation for the Patriots, and he turned in his best game of the season against the Titans. Chaisson racked up three tackles, two of which went for a loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery, which he returned for a four-yard touchdown.

With the offense looking so solid under Drake Maye’s lead, Chaisson’s strong start to the season has flown under the radar to an extent. However, he got his due praise on Wednesday, as he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his strong outing against Tennessee.

The former No. 20 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, Chaisson didn’t pan out with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he put together some strong tape in 2024 with the Las Vegas Raiders that helped him earn a one-year, $3 million contract from the Patriots in free agency.

It’s still early, but Chaisson is looking like one of the biggest bargains in the league so far. He’s already got 12 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and his aforementioned fumble return touchdown to his name through six games of action.

Chaisson is likely earning himself a big payday this upcoming offseason with his strong play to start the season. For now, he will be focused on helping the team earn its fifth straight win in Week 8 when it takes on the Cleveland Browns.
