The inaugural “FoodZilla” drew 2,500 to a festival outside the San Fernando City Hall

The very first FOODZILLA event took place in front of San Fernando City Hall last Saturday evening, and it drew families and food lovers, many of them dressed in Halloween costumes. Oscar Urrutia, event producer with My Valley Pass, said, “We had approximately 2,500 people in attendance. It was a great start to this monthly event.”

Urrutia says the goal is that FOODZILLA becomes the San Fernando Valley’s biggest food festival, focused on “celebrating local cuisine, artisan goods and community culture.” He calls it a “launchpad for dreamers” where local food vendors are encouraged to offer unique fare “you won’t find elsewhere. … We’re also proud to support small business owners in bringing their culinary dreams to life.”

Beyond food, the event included a mix of local artisans, handcrafted goods and artwork and live entertainment. Looking ahead, FOODZILLA will be a monthly event in downtown San Fernando.
