Erin Andrews Was Devastated After Watching Horrific NFL Injury

0

Football fans were horrified on Sunday night when Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome arm injury. Daniels was sacked in the fourth quarter by a Seattle Seahawks defender and his left arm bent unnaturally, requiring immediate attention.

Daniels' teammates surrounded him as trainers placed his injured arm in an aircast and helped him off the field. Offensive lineman Sam Cosmi told reporters after the game that the injury was "gut-wrenching."

"You could hear the air just taken out of everybody in the stadium. It's just not a good feeling. To see that. It really sucks."

Fans responded to the injury similarly, saddened by a likely-season ending injury for a young, promising player. Longtime sideline reporter Erin Andrews reacted to Daniels' injury on social media, saying "Uggggggghhhh" on social media.

Many fans and analysts have criticized Commanders head coach Dan Quinn for leaving Daniels in the game, as Washington trailed by several touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Quinn addressed his decision while speaking to reporters on Monday, when he revealed that Daniels had dislocated his elbow.

"I know many of you have been asking about the thought process of Jayden being in the game in that situation. I get that. I’ve been thinking about it honestly nonstop too. For me, the answer is ‘I missed it,'" the coach said.

"Of course he could scramble. It’s Jayden, it’s what he’s special at. That’s 100 percent on me.”

What's Next For Daniels and Washington?

Daniels is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL, and his elusiveness is one of his best qualities as a player. On Sunday night, he wasn't able to get away from Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas, who tackled him close to the end zone.

“The hindsight, you don’t want to think that way, where injury could take place,” Quinn added about the play. “You’re more conservative in that spot, running and handoffs and not have reads to go.”

Daniels' injury adds to the others he's suffered this season, injuries that have already kept him out of three games. The Commanders fell to 3-6 after the 38-14 loss to Seattle, and have a difficult schedule ahead of them for the rest of the season.

Games against the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles (twice) and Dallas Cowboys remain, as well as as a meeting with the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos.

Daniels was the catalyst for Washington's dream season in 2024, winning Rookie of the Year and leading the Commanders to their first NFC Championship game appearance since the 1991 season.
