Missing Long Island kayakers found dead in Shinnecock Bay: Police
NEW YORK (PIX11) — Both men who vanished during a kayaking trip in Long Island waters have been found dead, according to police.
On Sunday, 27-year-old Shane Garcia was found dead underwater in Shinnecock Bay by New York State Police divers, officials said.
Officials had searched the area all day Sunday after finding two abandoned kayaks near Shinnecock East County Park.
Garcia's friend and kayaking companion, 25-year-old Aaron Montemarano, was found Monday morning in Shinnecock Bay, according to the Southampton Town Police Department.
Montemarano, of Riverhead, was pictured with Garcia in a selfie that Garcia had sent to his girlfriend just hours before being reported missing.
