Thomas Frank says Tottenham star is ‘not fully firing yet’ but is still an absolute ‘handful’

0

Despite contributing in a big way to Tottenham’s win over Copenhagen, Thomas Frank believes that we have not yet seen the best of one Spurs star.

Spurs got a much-needed morale-boosting 4-0 win at home against Copenhagen, which was the biggest margin of victory they have had under Thomas Frank.

After Tottenham’s disastrous attacking showing against Chelsea, the supporters would have been pleased to see some attacking intent against the Danish side.

Randal Kolo Muani picked up his first assist for the Lilywhites, doing some excellent work to set up Wilson Odobert with an easy finish, and the Spurs boss has now made an interesting claim about the Frenchman.

Thomas Frank says there is a lot more to come from Randal Kolo Muani in a Tottenham shirt

Frank claimed that the Frenchman is now building up his fitness and showed glimpses of how hard he can be to play against.

However, the Dane acknowledged that Kolo Muani could have got on the scoresheet himself and revealed that the 26-year-old will give a lot more to the team when he is at 100 per cent.

When asked about the on-loan PSG man’s performance against Copenhagen, Frank said (via Football.London): “I think he’s just taking steps in the right direction and he’s getting more and more fit. And I will still go as far as I don’t think he’s fully firing yet. But you can see he’s such a handful to play against.

“The goal is a ball in behind where he just can’t really control it, the defender, and he’s practically on the goalkeeper. And then he shows extreme composure to just take the ball down and a nice assist for Wilson.

“And he’s gone through two or three times and could have scored more. So I think he was a threat. Probably also should have scored on the header.”

Spurs need Dominic Solanke fit as soon as possible

As Frank points out, Kolo Muani will be a handful for most defences to deal with once he is fit and firing.

However, the France international has never been the most clinical in front of goal and is not a player that Spurs can rely on to score 20-plus goals this season.

That is why the Lilywhites need Solanke fit as soon as possible, but Frank has suggested that the England international will not be rushed back as he continues to recover from his ankle surgery.
