Over 4,000 Pounds of Chicken, Beef Products Recalled

0

A new recall announcement has removed more than 4,000 pounds of chicken and beef products from shelves due to a possible undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Tuesday.

Brazilian Taste, out of Lexington, S.C., has recalled approximately 4,120 pounds of chicken and beef croquettes because they contain sesame, which is not indicated on the product labeling.

A sesame allergy is the ninth-most common food allergy among adults and children in the United States, according to FoodAllergy.org. Symptoms of a sesame allergy can range from mild, such as hives, rash, nausea and vomiting, to severe, including anaphylaxis.

"The problem was discovered when the Food and Drug Administration notified FSIS that bread crumb ingredients shared between FDA-regulated and FSIS-regulated products produced at the facility contained sesame that may not have been declared on the labels of the FSIS-regulated products," said the FSIS press release.

What to know about the recalled products

The chicken croquettes were produced between March 4, 2025, and August 19, 2025, while the beef croquettes were produced on June 2, 2025. You can see the labels for the products here.

Three specific products are covered under this recall. They are:

  • 17.63-oz. plastic bag packages of SAINT COXINHA XL CHICKEN CROQUETTES - "Best by” dates ranging “11/04/2025” to “04/19/2026."
  • 15.8-oz. plastic bag packages of SAINT COXINHA CHICKEN CROQUETTES - Also with “best by” dates ranging “11/04/2025” to “04/19/2026."
  • 13.7-oz. plastic bag packages of SAINT COXINHA GROUND BEEF CROQUETTE RISOLE DE CARNE - "Best by” date of “02/02/2026."

All of the above products contain the establishment number "P-45640” or “Est. 45640” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were available for sale online nationwide and were also sold at retail locations in the following six states:

  • Connecticut
  • Georgia
  • Massachusetts
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Texas

As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses related to the consumption of these chicken or beef croquettes.

What to do if you have one of these products

The FSIS urges anyone who has these products at home to dispose of them or return them to place of purchase for a refund.

"Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider," the organization adds.
