Karachi: An emotional and heartfelt video has surfaced on the internet in which a woman, who hails from Pakistan, can be seen accusing her husband of abandoning her in Karachi and silently getting ready for another marriage in India’s national capital – Delhi. Now, the woman, who has identified herself as Nikita Nagdev, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help. In the video, Nikita can be seen saying that she married Pakistan-origin Vikram Nagdev on 26 January 2020 in Karachi. Vikram is now residing in Indore on a long-term visa. The couple married each other following Hindu customs.

After a month of marriage, Vikram brough Nikita to India. As per the woman, her life took a drastic turn within few months.

On 9 July 2020, the woman alleged that her husband left her at the Attari border giving reason of visa technicality. He forced her to go back to Pakistan. Since then Nikita is in Karachi and Vikram has made no effort to bring her back to India.

“I kept requesting him to call me to India, but he refused every time,” Nikita said in the video.

She said, “If justice is not served today, women will lose faith in the system. Many girls face physical and mental abuse in their marital homes. I urge everyone to stand with me.”

Pakistani Woman Nikita Claimed She Faced Distressing Treatment

Nikita stated that she faced distressing treatment after her marriage. When she returned to her in-laws’ home in Pakistan, she felt a major change in their behaviour.

Husband Having An Extra Marital Affair

After some time Nikita found out that her husband Vikram was allegedly having an affair with one of her relatives. When she took this matter to her father-in-law, he dismissed it, stating that nothing could be done.

She alleged that during the COVID-19 lockdown, her husband forced her to return to Karachi but since then he has not allowed her to come back to India.

“Every woman deserves justice in India,” Nikita asserted.

Filed Police Complaint After Five Years

Not getting any solution, while getting the feeling of being replaced by another woman, Nikita complained on 27 January 2025.

Her case was heard at the Sindhi Panch Mediation and Legal Counsel Centre, authorised by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The court issued a notice to Vikram, and a hearing was conducted.

In the report dated 30 April 2025, the Centre the couple are not Indian citizens, hence the matter falls under Pakistan’s jurisdiction. It is recommended to deport Vikram to Pakistan.

In May 2025, Nikita approached the Indore Social Panchayat. After hearing her plea, the Panchayat also recommended her husband to deport to Pakistan.

Collector Ashish Singh assured that a probe has been initiated and action would be taken based on the report.
