William Reportedly Has ‘Serious Tension’ With Charles For Refusing to ‘Turn His Back’ on Meghan After All the ‘Damage’ She Caused
First was his son. Now it’s his daughter-in-law. King Charles may be reconciling with Meghan Markle next, and it’s causing “tension” in his relationship with Prince William.
A source told The National Examiner in a report published on November 18 that Charles still has a “soft spot” for Meghan and would like to repair his relationship with her after mending ties with her husband and his son, Prince Harry, in September. “Despite everything that’s happened Charles has not turned his back on Meghan,” the source said. “The more time goes by the more empathy he seems to feel for her.”
The insider added that Charles is “well aware” of what Meghan, whom he once nicknamed “Tungsten,” has done to the British royal family in her and Harry’s tell-all interviews, but “he still believes she has a good heart.” The source also claimed that Charles was “genuinely upset” for Meghan after hearing about her estranged father Thomas Markle’s near-death medical issues and life-saving surgeries.
Charles escorted Meghan down the aisle at her and Harry’s 2018 wedding when her dad couldn’t attend, with the insider reporting that Charles even keeps a photo of the moment on his desk. “He wants peace, not just with Harry but Meghan too, and he’s quietly applying pressure from the top to make that happen,” the source said.
Two royals who are not a fan of the reconciliation, however, are William and Charles’ wife, Queen Camilla. This is not going down well with William or Camilla, they’re flabbergasted and saying he’s being way too naïve,” the insider said. “They feel strongly that it’s asking for trouble to open the door to her.”
William’s wife, Kate Middleton, however, is supportive of Charles extending an olive branch to the Sussexes. “[She] respects how important this is to him,” the insider said. “So far it’s not having much effect on William and Camilla, which is leading to some serious tensions.”
The source continued, “Charles understands there are big feelings about this all around, but he hopes that, in time, everyone can find it in themselves to lower the temperature.”
The report comes after Charles and Harry met face-to-face for the first time in years in September 2025 at the king’s residence in Clarence House, where they sat down for tea while Harry was in London to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and attend the WellChild Awards.
