Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to 860 martyrs of the Assam Movement at the newly inaugurated Swahid Smarak in Guwahati. The monumental 55-meter-tall statue and underground roll of honour commemorate those killed during the 1979-85 agitation against illegal infiltrators, which culminated in the Assam Accord.
