Popular Bengali actress Parno Mittra has joined the Trinamool Congress. She stated this was a conscious decision to correct a past political error. Mittra had previously joined the BJP in 2019 and contested the 2021 Assembly elections from Baranagar. She lost that election to a TMC candidate. The TMC candidate later switched to the BJP.
