West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed sorrow over 50 deaths during the Bengal SIR. She stressed the importance of democratic and voting rights for all citizens. Banerjee also laid the foundation stone for a Durga temple complex in New Town. She stated her commitment to secularism and the preservation of democracy in the upcoming 2026 elections.
