'Heated Rivalry' Creator Jacob Tierney Talks Season 2 Progress & Addresses Skip Spinoff
Jacob Tierney is opening up about the future of Heated Rivalry in a new interview!
The creator, writer and director of the Crave TV series adaptation of Rachel Reid‘s “Game Changers” book series gave an update on where he’s at with season two and the possibility of a spinoff centered on Scott and Kip.

“I mean, I’m definitely going to tune everything out when I start writing. I’m gonna have to,” he said on What Chaos! podcast about starting season two.
He then revealed how far in the process of creating season two is – previously, he’s confirmed he has not started writing and is taking time off for the holidays.
“I’ve started, I have a plan,” Jacob dished. “I’ve started my reread process, which is me reading a few books. And I know what I’m going to do, but I haven’t started writing yet. I’m actually just trying, it’s a bit counterintuitive for me, but trying to take a deep breath and have a bit of a Christmas vacation.”
“Once I start actually writing, I’m going to have to tune everything out because I am getting lots of opinions,” he added.
Season two’s budget will also not be changing, despite the show’s massive success with the first season.
“We’re not going to have that much more money to make season two,” Jacob said. “When you make a show for this amount of money, people are like, ‘Oh my god, that’s amazing- do it again!’ Why would anybody want to spend more money if you didn’t do it the first time? Everybody will get paid. We didn’t make the show for nothing. We did okay with what we had.”
Jacob also addressed the possibility of a spinoff about Scott and Kip, something Francois Arnaud (Scott) has mentioned he heard talks about.
“I don’t got nothing,” Jacob teased after giving an eyebrow waggle. “What I’ve got, what I will say is the same thing I’ve been saying is that we are definitely looking to explore a lot of options for this universe and obviously, we love Scott and Kip, we love Francois, we love Robbie [G.K.], we love Nadine [Bhabha], we love the Kingfisher, we love that whole world. And so there’s certainly, you know, potential to do something with that.”
Fans of the books will know that the Kingfisher bar shows up as a location in several of the “Game Changers” books, including “Common Goal” and “Role Model.”
Season two of Heated Rivalry will mainly focus on “The Long Game,” as that is the next installment as part of Shane and Ilya’s story, but it also intersects with “Role Model.”
