Helsinki to welcome 2026 with music, fireworks and traffic restrictions

Helsinki will welcome the year 2026 with a public New Year’s Eve celebration at Kansalaistori Square on 31 December. The event will include a family programme in the early evening and a concert featuring Finnish artists Ares, Erika Vikman and KAJ. A fireworks display will begin at midnight.

The children’s section will begin at 17:00 with a performance by heavy metal group Hevisaurus. A fireworks display for families will follow at 18:00. Organisers have advised early arrival due to expected crowds and restrictions on movement in the city centre.
