In a strategic move before the elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced the 'Babu' initiative, which promises financial support of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 monthly for economically disadvantaged male college students. This new scheme works in tandem with the already successful 'Nijut Moina' program designed for female students.
