Man with rifle shot to death in Northridge on New Year’s Eve, police say
Police on Thursday, Jan. 1, are investigating a fatal New Year’s Eve shooting in Northridge that left one man dead after he was confronted by an off-duty Homeland Security officer.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 17701 block of Roscoe Boulevard and Amestoy Avenue at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, regarding a man allegedly armed with an assault rifle who was firing shots in the air, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
According to NBC4, the off-duty officer went to investigate and at some point the suspect was shot.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
NBC4 reported that the shooting is under investigation.
