'Hypocrites!' Wife of NYC mayor ignites right-wing firestorm with fashion choice
MAGA fans took a brief pause Thursday from bashing New York City's new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, to heap criticism on his wife, who appeared to wear artisan leather boots worth over $600 to his official overnight swearing-in.
The New York Post, owned by News Corp, the media company controlled by Rupert Murdoch and his family, homed in on $630 Shelley Boots sported by Rama Duwaji, writing that her choice appeared to be at odds with the Democratic Socialist's affordability message.
"But her high-end fashion statement — which came as she stood next to Mamdami while he took the oath of office just after midnight — is out of touch, considering Hizzoner’s equity-for-all policies that include tax hikes on the rich along with his man-of-the-people air, some observers slammed," the report said.
Mamdani's repeated vows to focus on affordability for all fell on deaf ears in MAGA world, which bashed his wife over the choice.
Author James Golden wrote on X, "That's okay. The poor New Yorker's can expect free boots - any day now. Socialist Zohran Mamdani’s wife Rama Duwaji appears to wear luxury $630 boots to swearing in ceremony."
Ashley, formerly of Right Side Broadcasting Network, wrote on X, "Imagine saying you HATE the rich, when you ARE the rich," she complained.

RedWavePress bemoaned on X, "Hypocrites!"
Myles Miller, a senior reporter covering the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and New York City for Bloomberg, came to Duwaji's defense, however.
