0

Coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast and Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast as well as San Francisco County are under a high surf advisory which was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 11:43 p.m. The advisory is valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday Jan. 9, at 10 p.m.

The NWS San Francisco CA adds to prepare for, “Large breaking waves up to 22 feet, strong rip currents and sneaker waves.”

“There is an increased risk for sneaker waves, strong rip currents, and beach erosion. Large breaking waves can overpower swimmers resulting in significant physical injury and increase the risk of drowning,” according to the NWS. “Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.”
