An estimated 1,200 demonstrators marched in Marin on Sunday as part of the nationwide “ICE Out for Good’ protests, following the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer.
Renee Good, 37, was shot and killed by an ICE officer as she tried to drive away from ICE agents on Minneapolis streets on Wednesday.
The demonstration, organized by a coalition of local groups as part of the Ice Out of Marin movement, involved a solemn, mile-long procession through the grounds of the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael. Protestors wore black, some carried prop caskets or photos of people killed by ICE agents, and brought flowers to memorial set up in front of the Marin County Jail.
The protest was held to demand accountability, honor the lives lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions, organizers said.
