Sakura Sake Tour Episode 4 Hits Tokyo and Yokohama
Words by Josh Zickert
We woke up to another gorgeous morning in Tokyo with the cherry blossoms in full bloom. The crew met up downstairs at the hotel cafe for a healthy & delicious breakfast. Options included homeade vegetable soup, eggs, toast & coffee, of course. Blair led a proper yoga sesh & the team was feelin’ good & fully prepared to continue exploring the amazing city of Tokyo.
First we dipped into Jimbocho Station & jumped on the Shinjuku line to make a quick hit
on a few silver scuplture transitions tucked inside a sky scraper plaza. Toshi said we might only get a few minutes at the spot so we attacked like true ninjas. Caroline, JJ, Leo, myself & Bonestalone all copped drop-in tricks. Toshi issued the warning sign after spotting security; we skated away at lightning speed & hid out a few blocks away behind a massive handball court wall.
Toshi had been telling us about a gigantic Godzilla located on top of a 50-story building
in Shinjuku that breathes fire every hour. Everyone was hyped to check out Shinjuku’s historical district full of cool shops focused on anime culture. Sure enough at 1pm sharp Godzilla took center stage and let out a monstrous roar that was truly frightening. Leo skated as fast as he could through the tourists screamin’ with fear as Bonestalone was yelling out “Oh no, it’s Godzilla.” It was hilarious watching peoples reactions. Perhaps a few of them actually thought Leo was running for his life.
After souvenir shopping & a bite to eat we jumped back on the train to the Setaguya
district to hit up the famed sculpture wallride & a flat rail with the Tokyo Tower in the background. Toshi, Bonestalone, JJ, Richie & Eugenia all got footy.
Episode 4 finishes off with an epic private session at the perfectly constructed
Sherl shin Yokohama bowl in Yokyohama with Hedeika Kojima of Fabric Skate Shop and Koh, a ripping local shredder. The squad skated tough til midnight and then celebrated with a team dinner at the sushi bar located on the property. Another one for the books!
