JUST IN: Maria Corina Machado Gives Her Nobel Peace Prize to President Trump (VIDEO)
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado made her first appearance at the White House to meet with President Trump on Thursday, where she gave him her Nobel Peace Prize.
Machado confirmed to reporters as she departed the White House that she presented him the prize, likening it to Continental Army General Lafayette’s gift to Venezuelan liberator Simon Bolivar, who freed Venezuela from Spanish rule in the 1800s. The medal with George Washington’s face on it “was given by General Lafayette as a sign of the brotherhood between the United States, people of United States, and the people of Venezuela in their fight for freedom against tyranny,” Machado said.
“And 200 years in history, the people of Bolivar are giving back to the heir of Washington, a medal, in this case a medal of a Nobel Peace Prize, and a recognition for his unique commitment with our freedom.”

Machado: I presented the President of the United States the medal of the Nobel Peace Prize, and I told him this. It can be recalled that the Nobel Committee snubbed President Trump and awarded Machado with the prize due to “her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
But it was Trump who ordered the operation to arrest Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and create the pathway to transition to Democratic rule in Venezuela earlier this month.
The two posed for a photo in the Oval Office with President Trump holding the framed Nobel Peace Prize, which Machado won last October.
“To President Donald J. Trump. In gratitude for your extraordinary leadership in promoting peace through strength, advancing diplomacy, and defending liberty and prosperity,” the framed inscription read.
“Presented as a Personal Symbol of Gratitude on Behalf of the Venezuelan People in Recognition of President Trump’s Principled and Decisive Action to Secure a Free Venezuela.”
“The Courage of America, and its President Donald J. Trump, will Never be Forgotten by the Venezuelan people,” it continued, signed by Machado.
