One of the best alt-rock bands of all time is heading toward Bay Area

Well, here’s the news that we’ve been waiting for:

Throwing Muses, the highly influential band that helped draw up the road map for alt-rock in the ’80s and paved the way for Nirvana and so many other acts to follow in the ’90s, is finally coming back to town.

Throwing Muses, led by phenomenal singer-songwriter-guitarist Kristin Hersh and featuring the equally awesome rhythm section of David Narcizo on drums and Bernard Georges on bass, are set to perform on April 17 at The Chapel in San Francisco.

Showtime is 9 p.m. and tickets go sale at noon Jan. 16, https://www.eventim.us/event/throwing-muses/677402.

Here’s hoping that the event sells out — really fast — and that organizers add a second date. (Because we most definitely would be at both!)

The reunited Muses — which didn’t really break up, but rather routinely seem to sit on the shelf for way too long — are touring in support of “Moonlight Concessions,” which was absolutely one of the best albums of 2025.

It’s the Muses first album since 2020’s “Sun Racket.”

Judging by recent setlists, it appears that the Muses are playing a lot of material from “Moonlight Concessions” — as well as other newer albums — but still finding the space to touch on such classics outings as “The Real Ramona,” “House Tornado” and “University” on this tour.

Buckle up, fans. This is going to be fun.
