Pakistan’s military said its forces killed 13 militants in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this week as clearance efforts continue.

The military said the operations, conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday, targeted members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). One operation in the Bannu district resulted in eight militants killed after heavy clashes with security forces, the army said.

Another operation in the Kurram district killed five more militants in an exchange of fire, according to the military. Security officials said clearance operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats.

Pakistan has faced rising militant violence in recent years. Research from Islamabad-based think tanks shows attacks in 2025 increased by 34% compared with the previous year, with casualties rising 21%.

Earlier this week, four militants were killed during a security operation in the Kalat district of Balochistan, highlighting continuing regional instability.

The army said over 75,000 operations against militants were carried out nationwide in 2025, with most concentrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, but attacks by TTP and Baloch separatists remain ongoing.

Pakistan’s military operations underscore the government’s intensified counterterrorism campaign, but analysts warn sustained militant activity continues to challenge security and stability across the country.
