3 Dead, Including Teen Girl, & 1 'Distraught' Survivor in Shooting at California Home: Police
Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place at a home in California, which claimed the lives of three people believed to be family members.
According to a statement provided to Just Jared by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a call for an “assault with a deadly weapon” at a home in Lakewood around 8 a.m. on Thursday (January 15).
They encountered a “distraught female adult” exiting the home when they arrived. She had not sustained any injuries. Inside, authorities located an adult man, an adult woman and a 17-year-old girl, all of whom were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victims suffered “gunshot wounds to their upper torsos,” per the statement.
A weapon was found inside the home, and authorities said that there was “no indication of an outstanding suspect, or any threat to the community.”
In a press conference attended by NBCLA, Liutenent Daniel Vizcarra confirmed the age of the teenaged victim and said that it appeared all four people were related. None were identified by name.
An investigation is ongoing.
NBCLA reported that the surviving woman was being interviewed by investigators. However, she had not been identified as a suspect at the time.
“Everybody’s just in silence,” neighbor Peggy Avila told the outlet, who reported that the family had seemingly lived in the neighborhood for approximately 20 years.
She continued, saying, “We’re just mourning. We’re praying for the best, but, you know, all we can do now is just pray for the family, the ones who are here.”
