She’s also now the first American woman since Michelle Kwan two decades ago to win three consecutive U.S. National titles, per Out Sports.

Amber was selected to represent the country at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Olympic singles figure skating. She nearly made the team four years ago in 2022.

“I got a peek behind the curtain and realized everyone’s struggling, they just don’t talk about it,” she explained on My New Favorite Olympian/Paralympian podcast.

“That’s when I decided I wanted to be honest about who I am, because I didn’t want the next generation to go through what I did. I remember skating my first competition after coming out and seeing pride flags in the audience. People were cheering louder than ever. I almost started crying before I even skated. It was one of the most emotional performances of my life. I felt so free.”

She is also now the oldest U.S women’s singles skater to qualify for the Olympics since 1928, per ESPN.

Amber, who was born in Plano, Texas, is also a Grand Prix Final champion, and a six-time ISU Grand Prix medalist, and a five-time ISU Challenger Series medalist.
