0

The football season is winding down, and most teams are officially in the offseason. So, are there NFL or college football games on TV today, Sunday, January 25, 2026?

Let's start with college football. The NCAA season has wrapped up, since the College Football Championship game on Monday, January 19, marked the final game of the season. That game saw the Indiana Hoosiers take down the Miami Hurricanes with a 27-21 final score. So, there are no college football games on today or for the rest of the 2025-26 season.

But, the good news is that there's still NFL action. The NFL's 2025-26 season continues on Sunday, January 25, with the league's AFC Championship and NFC Championship games.

First up, it's the AFC Championship game, with the Denver Broncos hosting the New England Patriots at 3 p.m. Eastern on CBS. After that game concludes, the NFC Championship will start, offering a NFC West rivalry with the Los Angeles Rams heading up north to take on the Seattle Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox.

Then, of course, there's the Super Bowl. That's scheduled for San Francisco on Sunday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m. on NBC.

So, there are only three NFL games left for the 2025-26 season. Looking ahead, the NFL's 2026-27 season will officially kick off with a Thursday night game on September 10, 2026, with the reigning Super Bowl champion, being whichever team wins Super Bowl LX, hosting.

According to research from Nielsen, the 2025 Super Bowl drew the largest audience for a Super Bowl and for a single-network telecast in TV history.

Record-Breaking Football Numbers

"The matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs drew a combined average household rating of 41.7, and combined household share of 83," Neilson notes. "The peak average audience hit 137.7 million viewers from 8 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Eastern time in the second quarter."

They add that year-over-year viewership was up 3.2% from the previous record-setting audience that took in Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.

So, whichever teams make it to the final Super Bowl have big shoes to fill. They'll also have two weeks off before they take the field, as is traditional for the NFL.

According to research from Front Office Sports, CBS had the highest Saturday audience on U.S. television in 32 years for the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos game, and NBC averaged 45.4 million viewers for the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears games Sunday night. So, football viewing continues to make history.
