Today’s weather: Cloudy with local rains

On Thursday, the weather will remain cloudy with local rains and storm expected mainly in the western part of the island.

Sleet and snow are expected in the Troodos area, with snow depth measuring 23 centimetres in the morning.

Temperatures will rise to around 19 degrees on the coast, 18 degrees inland and around 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

Winds will blow from the south to northwest at up to 4 Beaufort, gradually turning southerly and increasing to 5 Beaufort. Later in the day, winds may strengthen further, reaching very strong 6 Beaufort.

The sea will generally be slightly rough to rough.

During the night, the weather will remain overwhelmingly cloudy. Local rains and isolated storms may occur inland, while snow and sleet is expected in the higher mountains .

Temperatures will drop to around 15 degrees Celsius on the coast, 11 degrees inland and around 4 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost will form locally.

Winds will continue to blow from southerly directions and are expected to gradually intensify, reaching up to 5 Beaufort inland. In higher mountainous areas, winds will be stronger, reaching up to 6 Beaufort.

The sea will be generally rough.

On Friday and Saturday, the weather will remain predominantly cloudy, with periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms, which may be accompanied by hail. Snowfall is expected Troodos, while the wind field will strengthen significantly, particularly in coastal areas.

On Sunday, conditions will be partly to mostly cloudy, with rain and isolated thunderstorms expected during the evening hours.

Temperatures on Friday will record a slight increase and are expected to remain at similar levels through Sunday.
