Billionaire-owned high street with 'UK's best fish and chips' nearby is now ghost town

Newton Aycliffe's high street has become a shadow of its former self, with 23 of its 45 shops now standing empty. But the struggling high street is just six miles from a chippy, voted the UK's best in 2025.
