The long-awaited French budget for 2026 was finally adopted on Monday, after Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu had taken to a constitutional provision to force it through – then survived two no-confidence votes after doing so. The budget includes a major boost in French military spending, a move which President Emmanuel Macron has deemed necessary to enable France to sufficiently defend itself going forward.
