Pakistani media reported that at least four police officers were injured after unidentified armed attackers targeted a police checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday.

According to reports, the coordinated attack took place in the Parwa area of Dera Ismail Khan district, where gunmen launched an assault targeting local security forces.

Local media claimed the attackers were attempting to loot a branch of the National Bank of Pakistan operating within the same area during the incident.

Gunmen reportedly surrounded a nearby local administrative office for about forty-five minutes, triggering heavy exchanges of gunfire before security forces regained control of the situation.

The incident follows another recent armed robbery in Dera Ismail Khan district, where attackers reportedly stole two million Pakistani rupees from a cash vehicle.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has witnessed a rise in security incidents and militant attacks in recent months, raising concerns about the safety of civilians and law enforcement personnel.

Security forces have increased patrols and operations across several districts in response to growing threats, although sporadic attacks continue to challenge regional stability efforts.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, while authorities continue investigations and security operations aimed at preventing further violence in the region.

In neighboring Balochistan province, coordinated attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) earlier this week killed at least 17 security personnel and 31 civilians and resulted in Pakistani forces killing as many as 177 militants amid some of the deadliest violence in years.
