Children across the UK have developed symptoms consistent with cereulide toxin poisoning linked to recent baby formula recalls, the UK Health Security Agency has said.

Various batches of Nestle’s SMA Infant Formula and Follow-On Formula products have been taken off the shelves, along with one batch of Aptamil First Infant Formula.

According to the UKHSA, there have been 36 clinical reports of children suffering symptoms linked to the move.

They include 24 notifications in England, seven in Scotland, three in Wales, one in Northern Ireland, and one in the Crown Dependencies.

The toxin can cause food poisoning symptoms including vomiting and stomach cramps, the Food Standards Agency said.
