‘Marty Supreme’ Makes Huge Step Forward for Original Movies

Marty Supreme tells the story of Marty Mauser, an egotistical table tennis pro (played by Timothée Chalamet) who needs to earn money in order to pay off his debts and make his way to the World Championship in Tokyo, Japan. The film is directed by Josh Safdie, one half of Uncut Gems and Good Time's filmmaking duo.

With its population of over 1.4 billion people, China is one of the most important demographics when it comes to making money at the box office. The country has strong censorship and party-regulated guidelines when it comes to what can be shown in theaters, which is why so many films struggle to get a release there.

No release date has been confirmed yet. Marty Supreme will be released in China in collaboration with China Film Group and Wanda Film.
