What does Bad Bunny have to say about his Super Bowl Halftime Show?

0

It’s been a whirlwind week for Bad Bunny, who went from a historic win at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles over the weekend right into the midst of the big Super Bowl media frenzy surrounding his Halftime Show performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.

So, in this midst of all that’s going on, Bad Bunny could be excused for initially seeming a bit out of touch with his feelings during a massive press conference attended by hundreds of international media members on Thursday at Moscone Center in San Francisco.

“To be honest … I don’t know how I’m feeling,” Bad Bunny said at the start of this Super Bowl Halftime and pregame press conference interview, which was hosted and moderated by Apple Music. “There’s a lot, you know? I’m still in middle of my tour. I just was at the Grammys last week.”

Given a moment to ponder things over, however, the 31-year-old “King of Latin Trap” — whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — was able to come up with the an answer.

“The biggest feeling is being grateful,” Bad Bunny says. “I feel I’m happy, but I’m just processing and taking it one day at a time and just living.

“I’m excited about this performance. But at the same time, I feel more excited (for) all the people than even for me — about my family, about my friends, people that I know that they always have believed in me. And they are happy.”

He also talked about how he’s mentally preparing for the Halftime Show, saying that his main strategy is to “try to not think too much about it.” Yet, for better or worse, that strategy isn’t quite working out as well as he might have hoped.

“Last night, I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking,” he said during the conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden. “I want to think that it’s just 13 minutes of doing something that I love. I’m trying to to enjoy it, and I know I’m going to have fun. At the end of the day, that that’s what I’m trying to focus — enjoy the moment.”

He also spoke about his blockbuster sixth solo studio effort — 2025’s “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” — which, on Sunday, became the first Spanish language outing to win Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

“That record teach me a lot,” Bad Bunny says. “It’s one of the most — if not, I think, the most — special projects that I have ever done. I was trying to connect with myself and my roots — who I am.”

He also reflected back upon his first Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance, which occurred back in 2020 when he was one of the guests during the Jennifer Lopez and Shakira headlined performance at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Did that taste of the bright lights — and the biggest stage in all of music — motivate him to try and someday headline his own Halftime Show?

“Actually, no. It’s not that I said, ‘Oh, I want to come back here by myself.’ I never (was) looking for this,” Bad Bunny says. “My biggest pleasure is just create. Have fun doing it and connect with the people. When I drop a song that I’m speaking about my feeling, or if I drop a song speaking about what I did last night, and people connect with me. That’s the best feeling.”

Bad Bunny was also asked about his own relationship with sports. And he was very honest and forthcoming in his response.

“Well, I’m I’m not good at sports,” Bad Bunny ways. “I come from Puerto Rico. There’s baseball, boxing, basketball — a  lot of sport. Actually, we we have a football player playing at the at the Super Bowl from Puerto Rico. So, yeah, I grew up watching sports and playing sports very bad. But I do love sport.”

He was not, however, willing to give the media much of a sneak speak as to what to specifically expect — in terms of guest stars or other special moments — from the Halftime Show.

“You know that’s something that I’m not going to tell you,” Bad Bunny says. “I don’t know why you asked that.”

Instead, he spoke in general terms about his Halftime Show, saying that he just wants “people to have fun.”

“There’s going to be a huge party,” Bad Bunny says. “I really don’t want to give any spoilers.

“People only have to worry about (dancing). I know that I that I told them  that they they had four months to learn Spanish, (but) they don’t even have to learn Spanish. It’s better if they learn to dance.”
