The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) notified amendments to the 2021 IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules. These bring "synthetically generated information" (SGI), including deepfakes, under the regulatory framework on Tuesday.
