Sources confirmed the news to Variety, which was first reported by TMZ.
According to the legal documents obtained by TMZ, she sold her ownership share of her catalog to the music publisher. It’s not immediately clear how much she was paid for the music.
TMZ‘s sources say it was a “landmark deal,” in the “ballpark of the $200-million deal Justin Bieber signed when he sold his music.”
She reportedly signed the deal on December 30, and sources say “she’s happy with the sale and has been celebrating by spending time with her kids.”
Primary Wave describes itself as “the leading independent publisher of iconic and legendary music in the world. The company is home to some of the most iconic songwriters, artists, and record labels across the history of recorded music.”
Several artists have sold their music catalog in recent years, including Justin, as well as Bob Dylan and Shakira.
Stevie Nicks sold an 80% stake in her publishing catalog to Primary Wave back in 2020.
Her ex Justin Timberlake sold his song catalog to Hipgnosis for over $100 million in 2022.
