US Says Nuclear Deal with Iran ‘Difficult, Possibly Impossible’

US negotiators told President Donald Trump that reaching a strong nuclear agreement with Iran remains extremely difficult despite talks.

Axios reported that United States and Israel have agreed to increase pressure on Iran’s oil sales while negotiations continue.

Negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner reportedly told Trump that achieving a satisfactory agreement with Tehran may be very difficult or even impossible.

However, US officials noted that some positions presented by Iranian negotiators remain within acceptable limits, allowing talks to continue despite skepticism.

Another US official reportedly said there is almost no chance either side will fully accept the other’s proposals, reflecting deep divisions in negotiations.

Witkoff and Kushner told Trump negotiations would continue while maintaining a firm US position, with final decisions left to the president if progress occurs.

The negotiators are scheduled to meet Iranian representatives in Geneva this week to continue discussions aimed at narrowing differences.

Earlier messages were also reportedly delivered to Iranian officials through diplomatic channels involving Oman as part of mediation efforts.

Despite ongoing diplomacy, officials remain cautious, saying progress depends entirely on Iran’s response and whether a mutually acceptable agreement can be reached.
