CNN panelist busts out laughing at analyst's wild claim about ICE facilities
A CNN panelist busted out laughing after a conservative analyst claimed that people living in immigration detention facilities are being treated well.
Leigh McGowan, host of the "PoliticsGirl" podcast, joined the panel on CNN's "NewsNight with Abby Phillip" on Monday, where the panel discussed the Trump administration's treatment of immigrants detained in Immigration and Customs Enforcement Centers. Lydia Moynihan, a correspondent for The New York Post, claimed that immigrants being detained in the facilities have access to education and health care, a claim that has been disputed by public reporting from The New York Times and other outlets.
McGowan busted out laughing at Moynihan's claim after she made it.
The discussion happened at a time when the Trump administration is preparing to dramatically ramp up its deportation efforts. Reports indicate that ICE is preparing to spend roughly $38 billion to acquire and convert former warehouses into detention facilities.
Some Republicans in states like Texas and Mississippi have pushed back against the conversion projects. In some instances, the administration plans to house more immigrants than the total population of the small towns where they are buying property.
