Katharine McPhee to Lead Cast of Kidnapping Film 'Three People in the Woods'

Katharine McPhee is returning to acting for her first movie role in years!

The former American Idol star, who has appeared in the movie The House Bunny and TV shows like Smash and Country Comfort, is set to lead the kidnapping film Three People in the Woods.

Katharine will star alongside Henry Thomas, Jim Gaffigan, Morgan Saylor, and Forrest Weber in the upcoming film, written by Nick Scandura and directed by Joshua Caldwell.

Here’s a synopsis: After the death of their teenage daughter, a grieving couple kidnaps the young man they believe is responsible and retreats into the woods to carry out a final act of justice-only to find their resolve tested as doubt, fear, and the consequences of their choice begin to unravel them.

The movie just wrapped production in Georgia and producers plan to sell the film at the European Film Market.

“Three People in the Woods is a story about grief, moral certainty, and the consequences of the choices we make when the world feels unrecognizable. I’m thrilled to be working with this incredible cast to bring this tense, emotional journey to the screen,” the director said in a statement.

Katharine most recently appeared in the film The Tiger Rising in 2022 and she also had a role in the series The Artist last year. She shared the movie news on Instagram by writing, “meet me in the woods?”
