Queen’s Park v Morton – Match Preview

0

TWO teams on the back of big wins meet at The city Stadium when Morton visit the southside this weekend.

Queen’s Park are back home after a resounding 1-0 win over Ross County in Dingwall, while Morton enjoyed a home win over Dunfermline on Tuesday.

Both games lifted each side several places up the William Hill Championship table, as well as spirits on each side.

Queen’s Park are, on league terms, on of the in-form teams in the league and Morton are beginning to hit their own purple patch now Ian Murray has settled into his role at Cappielow.

Scott Martin and Nikolay Todorov are 2026 recruits

After a scoreless draw and another match decided in the last-minute by Michael O’Halleron, this promises to be another close-fought game between the sides – and a chance for the Queen’s Park support to welcome new signing Scott Martin to the club.

The Season so far...

Such is the tight-knit nature of the William Hill Championship, Morton lifted themselves to the verge of play-off positions with a win over Dunfermline Athletic on Tuesday night.

Queen’s Park too were elevated by the three points accrued by Matty Shiels’ header in Dingwall last weekend.

Since the sides last met Ian Murray has stepped into the Cappielow hotseat following on from Billy Davies who oversaw a 2-1 win for the Ton in the last meeting between the sides, in December in front of the BBC Scotland cameras.

Louis Longridge and Jamie Bradley

Earlier in the season Dougie Imrie took charge of a scoreless draw on the southside, and the boss has since moved on to Raith Rovers.

In the home dugout, Sean Crighton has been ever-present with Jim Duffy alongside him for each match and is now in charge of one of the form teams in the division – with ten points from the last five league games.

Scott Martin has added to the list of options, on a loan until the end of the season from Partick Thistle.
