Which Type of Ski Lift Is Your Favorite? (Poll)

Skiing, perhaps more than any other action sport, encourages a fascination with the mechanical.

The heart of our shared sport, resorts, run on lumbering ropeways of differing size and scope. We could always go touring in the backcountry without them. At the same time, it's true that skiing wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for the access provided by our favorite lifts.

These machines endure through generations and, over time, become something like a trusted, silent family member.

Jackson Hole’s iconic Aerial Tram helped spawn a new generation of extreme skiing. The recently replaced Chair Two at Alpental saw a well-deserved farewell befitting of a king. The Aiguille du Midi cable car provides quick and unrivaled access to some of the most exposed skiing on the planet. Because of these lifts, cultures, memories, and communities form.

That brings us to our latest poll. 

Rather than running a questionnaire with thousands of choices, the Department of Polls and Skier Opinion decided instead to ask about the type of ski lift our readers prefer.

We’re limited to four options, so this poll isn’t all-encompassing, but we think we covered the main bases. Vote below and, in the comments, feel free to share about your favorite chairlift more specifically.
