President Donald Trump’s White House ballroom project is too big and should be scaled back. That's according to an architect and member of the board of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. David Scott Parker says the ballroom exceeds industry standards for size. He said it's more than 45% larger than it needs to be to hold 1,000 guests. Parker also says its south-facing porch is unnecessary. Parker is concerned the building will impede the sight line between the White House and the Capitol along Pennsylvania Avenue. A federal commission meets Thursday to consider the 90,000-square-foot project and to vote on whether to approve it.
