Personal data of almost all Kazakhstan residents leaked into public access

0

Tengrinews.kz – A total of 16.3 million records containing personal data of Kazakhstani citizens have been leaked to the public, confirmed Olzhas Satiyev, President of the Center for Analysis and Investigation of Cyberattacks.
In total, over 16 million records have been made publicly accessible, effectively covering a large portion of the country’s population. The leaked personal data reportedly includes: last name, first name, patronymic, gender, date of birth, individual identification number (IIN), address, date of residence registration, phone numbers (mobile, home, work), citizenship, nationality, and other details.
According to the expert, the source of the leak is still unknown. It is possible that previously exposed data was compiled and then sold in private Telegram channels, or it could be an entirely new breach.

“This is one of the largest-scale leaks. An investigation is currently underway. We are also waiting to hear from the state technical service under the National Security Committee, which is also expected to investigate the incident,” said Olzhas Satiyev.
