Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Health has revealed which countries' citizens come to Kazakhstan for medical treatment and what illnesses they seek care for.
Citizens of which countries come to Kazakhstan for medical treatment
According to the Department for the Organization of Medical Care at the Ministry of Healthcare, in recent years, foreign nationals have increasingly chosen Kazakhstan as a destination for medical services.
“Medical tourists from both neighboring and distant countries — including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Mongolia, India, Turkey, China, Azerbaijan, and the UAE — seek outpatient and inpatient care in Kazakhstani medical institutions,” the department told Tengrinews.kz in response to an official inquiry.
What conditions are treated in Kazakhstan?
According to the Ministry, the main areas of medical tourism in Kazakhstan include:
High-tech medical services, especially in neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, oncology, traumatology, and orthopedics;
Reproductive technologies, including in vitro fertilization (IVF);
Dental and cosmetic procedures.
Foreign patients most often travel to Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent, as well as regional centers where medical institutions have “the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and qualified personnel.”
Over 10,000 foreign patients annually
Overall, according to the Ministry of Healthcare, more than 10,000 people from 45 countries come to Kazakhstan each year specifically for medical treatment. Foreigners receive treatment in the country exclusively on a paid basis.
